Lost But Not Forgotten

Описание к видео Lost But Not Forgotten

Artist Jacob Butler (Salt River Pima–Maricopa) followed his Hohokam ancestors into the traditional arts. After studying etched-shell objects in the collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, Jacob conducted a series of workshops in the lost but not forgotten technique of shell etching for members of the Salt River Pima–Maricopa and Gila River Indian communities. The workshop participants' finished art became the subject of an exhibition organized by the Huhugam Ki Museum at the Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community near Scottsdale, Arizona.

Jacob's research at the National Museum of the American Indian and his community workshops were made possible through the support of the museum's Artist Leadership Program. For more information, visit http://nmai.si.edu/connect/artist-lea...
