How you dared to do that? - Stones are my life, so it’s the same if you ask me how you dared to live? :) Let’s dare to do that together! We’re going to recut the Blue Sapphire with Sarath and my son Yan, trying to remove inclusion as much as it’s possible and to make it match its 15-carat blue twin.

I’ve had this Blue Sapphire for 15 years, and when I bought it, I was thinking of recutting it from 20 carats to 15 carats…hesitating for 15 years. Then, 15 years later, my friend from Sri Lanka came, showed me his Blue Sapphire, and suggested we create a matching pair of stones. I looked at them and thought, “Wow, they are really made of the exact same material. We need to do it.”

So, we plan to modify the center to achieve a clean 15-carat stone, matching the shape of the 15-carat twin. Can we do it? You never know! Let’s get started!

Shall we start from the top or the bottom? It’s a good question, always philosophical. Sarath believes we should start from the top because when you start from the bottom, you never know how it will end up. When you start from the head, you have a chance to grow, learn, experience, and go to the bottom more confidently. How about you? Share your thoughts in the comments below and watch the whole process of our recutting meditation. Ready for the next step?

Let’s move on! This is the stage that will not only bring out the gem’s natural luster but also optimize its light reflection, resulting in a captivating and vibrant appearance… enjoy all steps!

Ready? Can’t believe it! Follow the final stages of cutting Blue Sapphire from Burma out of 20 carats! Watch until the end to see the matching pair totaling over 30 carats! 💙💙 After a series of decisions, preshaping, cutting, dopping, crown polishing, and more, we’re still in the flow. I believe more in the process than in making decisions. The best decision is to go with the flow.. agree? :)

So, initially, we planned to create a matching pair of Blue Sapphires with the same facets, but during the faceting, we discovered natural zircon crystals inside. One of them opened up, revealing a larger one beneath it. So, we decided to use slightly smaller facets to preserve the stone’s natural character and unique inclusions, which add soul to this Blue Sapphire. Rather than focusing on a matching pair, each stone will shine on its own - let’s following the flow…

A source of satisfaction, a fantastic stone in my hand, even surpassing my Aquamarine! Amazing! 🤩 Share in comments your impressions!
