My Crystal Radio Does NOT Work (FIXES for common problems)

Answers to, and fixes for, the most common reasons that crystal radios don't work. The only one left out (which is very uncommon, in the US anyway), is no AM station nearby.

NOTE: Use a carbon, not wire wound, resistor.

WARNINGS: Never run an antenna near a power line of any kind. Never use a radio with an antenna during a lightning storm. Always disconnect and antenna when it is not used. This is not a complete list of antenna safety items. If you don't know, learn first or don't do it.
