7 Reasons to Play WHITE MAGE! The Purest Healer of Them All!

Years ago you could not have PAID me to play white mage. Today it has become one of my favorite jobs to play right alongside Sage and Scholar. Let's talk about 7 real genuine reasons why you should consider picking up the WHITE MAGE!

Seven reasons why you should try out the white mage has arrived! At long last I get to talk about the fairest of them all, the purest of the pure healers. Mirror mirror on the wall, lalafel of the pool, who is the healiest healer of them all-- there can be no doubt white mage brings the heat.

So it’s ya boy Cole and before we get into the reasons I’d like some honorable mentions super briefly like thin air is incredible and allows you to revive for free which feels beyond incredible in PF, benediction is an absolute beast of a single target heal. Aquaveil plus divine benison let you protect a tank to an absolutely out of this world level. All great solid things. But I trimmed this down to 7 and now let’s get into it!

Reason 1 is that white mage has one of the most coherent fully realized systems in the game with the lily system and while this system has had some well deserved flak in the past it is in it’s current iteration absolutely fantastic. This will be the longest point because it has a ton of interplay and very important selling points.

The Lily System is a resource system where you accumulate resources called lilies every 20 seconds that you can spend on area of effect or single target heals, spells by the way so they utilize the powerful healing magic potency buffs that are scattered through the game. These lily heals give you a new resource called blood lily that when you get 3 of these you can use afflatus misery which is an extremely heavy hitting ability that allows you to recover any damage you lost due to casting healing spells. Actually truth be told, if you are allowed if you put this in the raid buff window you honestly gain significant damage.

Darn it, imagine needing to stop DPSing to heal as a healer. What an annoying interference right?

But jokes aside, this has been such a wildly effective damage recuperation tool that white mage currently is the second highest DPS healer in all of the game. Both median score just behind Sage and maximum score just behind Astro.

Oh and I can keep going, the two lily spells for healing are instant cast which means you can use them while moving, they cost no MP and the AOE can be paired with plenary indulgence for mad amounts of healing. The afflatus solace single target heal is pretty nice in pinch situations too.

Point is the lily system is coherent and effective. Stressing effective cause it really is fantastic. It has clear inputs, clear outputs and is a well oiled machine after years of honestly it not being that great.

Alright reason 1 was a doozy but that sets the backdrop. Reason 2 is white mage has one of the most engaging personal DPS rotations out of all healers in the game, and I kid you not! Yeah there is a ton of glare, but compared to Sage or Scholar bless them both I main them and love them but compared to Sage or Scholar white mage is a lamborghini.

You get a spell speed DPS buff called presence of mind where you turn into an explosive turret blasting out glare after glare that feels so incredibly rewarding in a raid buff window. You get assize that is basically like pressing a solid dopamine bliss in the brain. Not to mention afflatus rapture under a raid buff window is just incredible. That amount of raw burst on a healer under buffs I can tell you makes me feel joy. It seems basic but that little monkey brain of mine likes big number. Likes big number VERY MUCH.




Reason 3 is really that white mage spends the majority of it’s time playing on the GCD.
Asylum, tetra, assize, aqua veil, divine benison, benediction, lilybell, plenary indulgence and more! I kid you not more like thin air and Like white mage is far from devoid of off GCD’s. But relative to literally every single other healer you cast like so many less. In large part because of that lily system.
