Taking the Subway - From Hollywood to Universal Studios & Universal City Walk a how to guide.

Trains and Subway’s run from 4:00am to midnight – Every 10 minutes during the day and 20 during the evening hours.
The “B” Line (also known as the Red Line) runs from North Hollywood to Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA); which is 16.4 miles or 26.4 kilometers of track.

The Subway is the only metro public transportation that runs completely underground.
Los Angeles has only two (2) subway lines; First one is the “B” Line (the Red Line) and Second one is the “D” Line (the Purple Line).
The “D” Line runs from DTLA to Korea Town and will eventually go to Westwood (UCLA) by 2027.

In this video, we are taking the Subway from Hollywood (under the Dolby Theater) to Universal/Studio City Station, where there is universally “free” transportation to get you to Universal Studios, Universal Amusement Park and Universal City Walk by walking over the street bridge to the Universal Tram.

At the Universal City Walk, we had dinner at Bubba Gumps and then we did some shopping at “Its Sugar.”
From there, we show you the New Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and the Voodoo Donut shops.

Universal City Walk is dining, shopping & entertainment area, that does not charge admission – FREE

The cost to ride the Subway is:
$2.00 for the initial Tap Card
$3.50 to ride (expires at 3am the next day) = $5.50 each for the entire day, as many times as you need within a 24 hour period
$1.75 for a 1-way
$12.50 for a 7-day pass of unlimited rides

Hold onto that Tap Card; if you need to ride again, you only need to purchase the amount to ride and not another ‘new’ Tap Card.
