It's always a bit strange to celebrate July 4th when you're not in America. This Independence Day we took some time to celebrate with a few friends from America, Canada and Ukraine. What seems ironic is how the USA has switched roles with the old USSR. Especially after the supreme courts ruling on gay marriage it seems in many ways that it is the USA who is promoting godlessness, while the former Soviet countries are very religous and are against the LGBT movement.
