Polish grinding adds functionality to gears

Описание к видео Polish grinding adds functionality to gears

The established continuous generating method is the most efficient method to polish gears. This animation shows how a two-zone threaded grinding wheel grinds and polishes a gear in one clamping operation, and what functionality this process adds to the transmission gears.

Polish grinding reduces the friction between meshing gears, improves their surface finish, and the bearing ratio of the tooth flanks. At the same given torque load, the increased bearing ratio allows a reduction of the overall transmission size. The polished tooth flanks reduce friction in the transmission and thus increase the energy efficiency of vehicles. Additionally, polished gears increase the service life of gearboxes.

Without interrupting the gear grinding cycle, contrary to alternative methods, Reishauer polish grinding is added as a final machining sequence on the manufacturer’s existing Reishauer continuous generating gear grinding machines. At the same time, the workpiece remains clamped on the part holder during the grinding and polish grinding process. During polish grinding, only the roughness peaks are removed, reducing the roughness profile height and, therefore, this method increases the contact bearing area of the gear flanks. Moreover, the high geometrical accuracy of the ground gear flanks remains intact.
