बड़ी बड़ी आंखों वाले स्लेंडर लॉरिस के बारे में 18वीं सदी में सबसे पहले पता चला. तमिलनाडु में तो इन्हें जादुई माना जाता है, और इसी वजह से इनकी जान पर बन आई है. अगर ये लुप्त हो जाते हैं तो ईकोसिस्टम को भी भारी नुकसान होगा. इसलिए एक स्थानीय संस्था इन्हें बचाने की कोशिशों में लगी है.
