Bakestall & Great Calva. Lake District. 1st Sep. 2022

A walk in the Northern Fells of the Lake District up to two Wainwright Fells, Bakestall ( 673m) and Great Calva ( 690m)
The walk starts from the parking area next to Peter House Farm near Bassenthwaite and follows the track which leads to Skiddaw House.
We pass the superb Whitewater Dash Waterfall before heading up Birkett Edge to the summit of Bakestall (673m) There are two cairns on Bakestall, one marking the highest point of the fell, the other being the Wainwright Summit. We visit both cairns before re-tracing our steps back down off Bakestall. We then start the climb up to Great Calva, which is steep at first.
We visit Little Calva (642m) before reaching the Wainwright summit of Great Calva (690m)
From Great Calva we descend to the Cumbria Way track and follow the path back to Whitewater Dash Waterfall and eventually back to the parking area.
