Great Dodd, Watson's Dodd, Stybarrow Dodd & Hart Side. Lake District. 13th May 2023

A walk in the Eastern Lake District up to four Wainwright Fells.
We were joined on the walk by my brother Gary.
The walk starts from the parking area at High Row near Dockray and first heads along The Old Coach Road for approx. half a mile before turning left to start the Climb up to Great Dodd.
We follow the grassy path, crossing some boggy sections along the way up to Great Dodd (857m) We had superb views on the way up, made even better by a temperature inversion in the valleys below.
The views from Great Dodd summit were stunning with all the major fells on view, such as Scafell Pike, Great Gable etc.
From Great Dodd we follow the clear path to Watson's Dodd (789m) then Stybarrow Dodd (843m)
From Stybarrow Dodd we follow the ridge to Hart Side (756m)
From Hart Side we visit Birkett Fell before descending to Dowthwaitehead and then follow the path through fields back to High Row.
Distance is around 9 miles.
Gary & myself had our brother Eric in our thoughts on this walk as he sadly passed away suddenly on 27th December 2022 at the age of 56. The last time I walked in The Lake District with my brothers was January 2019 when we went up to Helvellyn. Eric was with us on the Helvellyn walk. He is greatly missed by all who knew him.
