Cala en Forcat Menorca | See What There Is to Do Before You Go!

Join us as we take you for a tour of the stunning little resort of Cala en Forcat (sometimes known as Cala n Forcat or Cala'n Forcat) in Menorca. A small resort situated about 5km West of the beautiful city of Ciutadella and about 50km away from Mahon the capital and the airport.
We stayed at the Globales Almirante Farragut at the far side of the town near the little cove. This enabled us to give you a complete walk through of the town over to Cala en Blanes. Approximately 2km or a 15 -20 minute walk.
If you are thinking of staying here, we hope you will find this video useful as it was made to try and give you an idea of what you can expect, i.e., what is there to do? Are there many bars and restaurants? Is it good for families, etc.
The first thing to note is that we were staying in an all-inclusive hotel, so when it came to food, etc, we had no need to go out, but we still did. The reason being that our kids loved the local bars – There were two especially that kept them occupied with slides, go karts, bouncy castles, trampolines etc etc
And it can be noted that if you want to eat out there was plenty of variety, Mexican, Pizza, Indian and of course, plenty of good local Spanish bars and grills. A few of which offer the menu of the day for approx. €14 -16 for 3 courses, which we found to be really good pending where you ate. We actually ended up eating of 8 of the 11 nights that we were there. So it did end up being a bit more costly than we planned, but it did make it far more enjoyable, as we removed the restrictions that all-inclusive stays often impose.
From our hotel, it was a 3 minute walk till we started hitting the bars and probably about 5 minutes till you get to the centre roundabout. You can not miss it as it is decorated by dolphins.
From there, you can walk another 10 minutes, and you will end up at Cala en Blanes beach. A great little cove that you will see on our video. Especially good for Beau as he got to experience topless sunbathers for the first time.
In the centre you also have an aqua centre. We visited there for 4 hours at a cost of €55 for a family of 4. For a full 8 hours there, it would have cost us €88. But in all honesty, we did find the 4 hours to be ample. It has great slides, but our daughter Amy was two short to go on the main slides, so we found it hard with Beau wanting to go on them but being restricted due to us watching after her. But still, they both loved it, as did we. If you are interested in going there, you can find the info here - http://www.aquacenter-menorca.com/en/...

When it comes to the bars and the food and drinks, we spent a majority of our time going between the two that our kids loved. The Atlantic at the entrance of the aqua centre and Park Aire, directly across the road. Both of these served great food, and drinks were all well priced at approx. €4 a pint. But it was the amusements and facilities for the youngsters that made them hits. We would turn up at 6:30pm and would not be able to get the kids away until about 10:30-11pm. Our kids found friends straight away and ended up playing with them each night.
Other places we tried the food at were:
The Los Defines Restaurant – This had huge queues each night, so we were expecting something great, but we were very disappointed with the food. Expensive and not as good as the main bars.
The Haiti was lovely, good food and very well priced. With dishes on the menu called ‘too Much’ for €15 you knew you were on to a winner.
There are plenty of supermarkets and a tobacconist for anyone that does smoke. Note that supermarkets etc in Spain are not allowed to sell tobacco.
There are souvenir shops, a chemist, doctors and places to hire cars if you fancy seeing more of the island.
A return taxi ride to Ciutadella, which is a must see, from Cala en Forcat is €20 and you can also get boat rips etc from here allowing you to see even more of the island.
I think the big question for us would be would we go back there again now knowing what the actual resort was like and the answer is definitely yes. We have actually booked up again for this year , and now knowing how good the restaurants and bars are, we are going self-catering. The kids cannot wait and neither can we..
