Saint Francis Church, in Fort Kochi (Fort Cochin), Kochi, originally built in 1503, is one of the oldest European churches in India.
Vasco da Gama died in his third visit to India in the city of Cochin on Christmas Eve in 1524.
His body was originally buried in this church, but after fourteen years his remains were moved to Lisbon.
The Church was declared a protected monument in April 1923 under the Protected Monuments Act of 1904.
The gravestone of Vasco da Gama can still be seen here. It is on the ground at the southern side.
Dutch demolished all the churches except this one.
House owner Mr. Santhosh and his family living here.
Presently this house as VASCO HOMESTAY. One of the oldest house in Kerala.
