Tānera’i i Ni’a worked as author/translators for the troupe MAKAMAE led by our sister Rhea Engkabo - & we couldn’t be anymore proud of this work unveiled for the in person Kiki Raina Tahiti Fete 2022.

“Baby Noho Mai” is the first translation from the Tongan faikava love song “Baby Nofo Mai” - originally by Suliasi Pole’o from the Kingdom of Tonga. The song is virtually unchanged from its Tongan translation… we wanted to emphasize that no matter what island you are from: losing someone & being in love are in one the same. We may come from different places in the Pacific but the passion is that of the same heart

Nia Vimahi Vainikolo, wife of Punake Kuata Vainikolo from Ma’ufanga Tongatapu was gracious enough to translate the song from Lea Faka Tonga (Tongan language) to English. From there, Vairea Tupana Samn & Ryan Samn worked diligently with Rhea Makamae Engkabo to create a Tahitian version of the song.
