Out and About – Days of Reverie

Experience one of Southern California’s great botanical gardens when Roger visits Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge to experience “Days of Reverie.” The extraordinary exhibition at the Sturt Haaga Gallery showcases the works of four visual artists and one music composer, and their impeccable works result in a monumental fusion of Art and Nature. The varied artworks on display include artist Jason Jenn’s gilded leaves plucked from the forest floor; Catherine Ruane’s detailed drawings of luscious roses and sycamore leaves; Jill Sykes’ lovely branches and flowers painted in glittering gold; and Debbie Korbel’s deep-blue mule deer, its horns sprouting colorful blooms. The collective works complement the beautiful surroundings of Descanso Gardens and the addition of Joseph Corillo’s moody and atmospheric score help to elicit the solitary experience of being immersed in a deep forest resulting in an extraordinary and thought-provoking artistic experience!
