Cleaning & Conditioning Leather Shoes | ASMR | Allen Edmonds | Neumok

Hello all.
In this video we have a beautiful pair of Allen Edmonds Neumock. This pair is about 7 years old and in excellent condition. However, they are extremely dry and brought in just before real, permanent, damage took place. Once we rehydrated the leather you can see most of the creasing went away. One of the biggest issues people have with Neu/Strand/Cron mock shoes from Allen Edmonds is the leather is relatively unusual. It isn’t Suede, it isn’t Nubuck (although it might be or very similar), Allen Edmonds just refers to it as Rugged Leather (as far as I could find). However, you care for it as you would calf skin. This leather is extremely absorbent however so when water or conditioners contact the leather it turns extremely dark. Don’t let that scare you this leather dries back to its original color, however you may need to give it a few hours. I personally wouldn’t use any color conditioners or heavy wax. This rugged leather is meant to look… well rugged. Color creams would make the shoe too uniform and wax will smooth out the texture of the leather. Finish with a good brushing with a stiff bristle brush, such as nylon and you’re done!
With this pair we added a touch of color to darken the shoe a bit and to burnish the high points of the shoe and toe. No dyes were used just some residual black color cream from a buffing brush.
