1. 1 O God, lend me Your ear;
Hide not from my requesting.
2 Attend to me and hear my pray’r,
I moan aloud, unresting.

2. 3 The foe lifts up his voice
And wicked men oppress me.
They rain down trouble to destroy,
And in their wrath detest me.

3. 4 My heart is pained in me,
I’m struck by death’s dread terror.
5 A quaking fear comes like the sea;
I drown in waves of horror.

4. 6 “I yearn for wings,” I said,
“Then like the dove I’d find rest.
7 I’d fly to desert haunts instead,
8 Escaping winds of tempest.”
