Restoration of a 1966 Series I Australian Army Haflinger, one of 15 known survivors of original 50 made. Project took 2 years.Australian Army Haflingers were unique with their pioneer tool holders on front and back, and raised rear air vent. These were originally trialled by the Army Air Wing for dropping out of Caribou aircratf by parachute. First hand accounts indicate up to 8 were flown to Vietnam, packed side-ways in Hercules aircraft to aid SAS operations. They were found to be of limited use in the Vietnam theatre, in part due to a limited number of airfields being available for moving drops..
