The acromioclavicular joint is commonly called the AC joint and is a synovial joint that is involved in the anatomy of the upper arm. It connects the acromion of the scapula with the clavicula at its lateral end. The joint is stabilized by two sets of ligaments: the coracoacromial ligament and the coracoclavicular ligament.

The acromioclavicular joint functions to allow anterior and posterior movement, rotation and tilting of the acromion during various movements of the arm.
