Weather Report Fusion Style Drum Solo- Soloing Over Figures and Vamps Part 2

Описание к видео Weather Report Fusion Style Drum Solo- Soloing Over Figures and Vamps Part 2

Here is Part 2 of a series of videos that demonstrate how to solo over rhythmic figures and vamps. This solo is in the Jazz Fusion style similar to something you might have heard the band Weather Report play in the 1970's and 80's.
The track is from the book The Drumset Soloist by Steve Houghton. This book comes with a CD that has play-along tracks containing many types of solo vamps. This enables you to practice and experiment with your soloing ideas.
After I play the solo I talk briefly about playing long and short notes on the kit. I then demonstrate how to use figures between the hands and feet to add to your solo vocabulary. These types of techniques are perfect for playing solos like this. For demonstration material I use several pages from my book Advanced Coordination for Drum Set and Hand Percussion. The book is available from me at [email protected] if you are interested.
