From Arizona to New Mexico For the First Time | New Mexico Road Trip Vlog (Day 1)

ROADTRIP! You get shotgun as we travel to a new state... NEW MEXICO! Join us as we set out on the first leg towards our first destination. Can you guess where?


Today we're heading out and finally seeing some locations in New Mexico. We set out on a Tuesday afternoon heading up the Beeline Highway. While this was not our original (or quickest!) route, the Telegraph Fire near Globe, Arizona made travel through that area impossible.

Not to worry though! This route turned out to be spectacular and provided a grand change from the Sonoran Desert valley and all its glorious saguaro cacti to higher elevations offering our favorite thing - ponderosa pines! We may have stopped for a sniff of their amazing scent. You'll have to see for yourself.

Onwards we pressed as the sun started the set and the smoke from those fires could be seen on the horizon. Summer fire season can really take a swing at travel plans and you just have to be adaptable.

As we drove on into the night a number of elk, deer, cows, and rabbits stopped to say hello... on the highway. New Mexico sure has a different welcoming committee!

Finally, we reached our lodging for the night - the Double T Catwalk Ranch where we crash for the night in preparation for our first destination.
