Usha talks about her journeys of birding and biodiversity in her wonderland - Sikkim

Usha Lachungpa started her career with the Bombay Natural History Society as a student member, and later groomed as Field Biologist under stalwarts like Salim Ali, J. C. Daniel and Asad Rahmani. A naturalist at heart, she worked for 31 years with the Sikkim Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department, doing field research on wildlife, adding more species to those in Salim Ali's Birds of Sikkim and conducting awareness about the state’s rich biodiversity, before retiring in 2017 as Principal Chief Research Officer (WL) and Additional Director, Sikkim Biodiversity Board. She is State Coordinator, IBCN, BNHS, co-author of book Important Bird Areas of Sikkim and founder member of NGOs Green Circle, Sikkim and Sikkim Ornithological Society.
