If anyone’s been following Indian markets, they’d know nothing much has been happening and in fact, the Nifty 50 has now slipped below 17,400📉

Now there are various reasons like recession fears, high inflation, mass layoffs etc which could explain the flattish markets but one particular point interests us and that is the interest rates.😮

It is no secret that most of the central banks across the world have failed to tame inflation, be it the US Fed or even the RBI.👎

Inflation getting out of hand has forced these central banks to move from their accommodative stance and hike interest rates.📊

Theoretically and practically increasing the interest rates make sense and will eventually help to damp down inflation but this frantic increase in interest rates across the world has a not-so-favourable effect on the markets📉👀

If humans find an alternative means of investment which is much safer than their current investments with decent returns, it is almost a certainty that investors will start moving their money to the safer alternative💰

And this is exactly what is happening now,🧐

Thanks to consecutive rate hikes made by the RBI, this has allowed banks to increase their interest rates on Fixed Deposits (FD).

FDs are obviously a much safer alternative than investing in the stock market with exposure to risk, 📝📈

Banks like IDFC First Bank, RBL Bank, Axis Bank, Yes Bank and Bandhan Bank have all begun offering a return of up to 8% on their FDs, this happens to be a big deal because this rate of return is beating inflation and slowly growing the money🤜🎒

And with all the scandalous episodes of the market with Adani Group, the investor’s confidence has already taken a hit and this is very visible as the liquidity in the market is running out and contrarian FD investors are rejoicing with the current situation. 🥳
