2021 Honda CRF450RX 1st Ride

First ride on a 2021 Honda CRF450RX (thanks to my buddy Steve!). This is Honda's cross country CRF with softer a suspension setting (0.48 fork springs and 5.0 rear spring compared to 0.50 and 5.4 on the CRF450R/WE), 18" rear wheel, Dunlop AT81 tires, kick stand, and an o-ring chain. Even with unique RX engine mapping this engine feels powerful in all the maps (1-stock, 2-soft, 3-aggressive). The power is more linear and easier to control for the '21 model year compared to the fire breathing '19/'20 models. Traction control has (3) levels of intervention and does tend to smooth/flatten out the power feel. The new single muffler is quieter than the previous dual mufflers though it is built lightweight and this one dented in a small tip over.

The off road focused suspension setting is plush and absorbing - great for GNCC or GP style riding and actually decent for slower Vet moto riding. With an all new chassis which is narrower and slight taller (even with a thinner seat) the RX still has that CRF character of quick handling, excellent cornering, and "just feels right" ergos (except for muffin top fuel RX fuel tank which is wide at the top). The new hydraulic clutch is a big improvement with consistent feel and lighter pull effort compared to the previous cable clutch.

Looking forward to a woods ride on the CRF450RX soon!
