"Ved Stanford Brua" is a song originally written and sung by the Norwegian folk singer Harald Foss. It describes in poetic verse the events of the battle of Stamford Bridge in which King Harald Sigurdsson, better known in the English speaking world as King Harald Hardrada of Norway, was defeated by King Harold Godwinson of England and his army on the 25th of September, 1066. Many historians assert that the defeat of the Norsemen at the battle of Stamford Bridge marked the official closure of the Viking Age. This version of the song is the first digital cover to be made.

Harald Foss is a talented musician who has contributed much to the preservation of Norse and Norwegian history, the original version of the song can be found here:    • Harald Foss - Stanford bru (Live)
