Talking With my Cycling Coach About Managing Collarbone Surgery Recovery

Описание к видео Talking With my Cycling Coach About Managing Collarbone Surgery Recovery

I just broke my collarbone and am recovering from surgery. Regardless, I am still heading to Sea Otter Classic But my plans and goals and training regiment are all up in the air.

So I called my coach. This is what our conversations look like. You'll see the kind of things we talk about and the tips my coach gives me on approaching fall training and cycling workouts with an injury.

(TrainingPeaks' Coach Matching paired me with cycling coach, Joy McCulloch earlier this year. No matter what feat I've taken on (from Race Across America, to tacking the USA Crits criterium scene, to road racing and gravel cycling events like Big Red and SBT GRVL... Joy's had great advice to give me, beyond just the traditional cycling training plan. )

After breaking my collarbone (unexpectedly, of course) Joy sat down with me and talked me through how to approach the next few weeks as I recovery from collarbone surgery. (I had a metal plate drilled into my collarbone by an orthopedic surgeon just days ago, to help the fracture of my distal clavicle heal). Joy goes through some of the activities that I can do, and normalizes the process of sitting on the sidelines during this period. I feel a lot better after this discussion.

A great coach is like Joy, and will help you through more than just what you need to do on the bike. They help you with your global health, and approach to training. Check out TrainingPeaks coach match service on their homepage to get connected with a coach who fits you perfectly too.
