Setting Up Bioactive Enclosures For a Bearded Dragon and Eastern Blue Tongue Skink

In this video I show the initial set-up of my bioactive enclosures for my eastern blue tongue skink and central bearded dragon. I discuss the substrates I used and why I chose them, the clean-up crew, plants I chose, lighting, and decor, and the main differences between the two enclosures.

I look forward to making a progress video on these enclosures after they have been running for a while!

Eastern Blue Tongue Skink

Substrate: Cypress mulch (~40%), coconut husk (~40%), sphagnum moss (10%), plant soils (~5%) charcoal (~5%)
Drainage layer: ~2-3 inches, charcoal and some ceramic media in mesh filter bags
Clean-Up Crew: Springtails and worms

Lighting: UVB Reptisun t10 with reflector
Heat: Philips Flood Light 120W, connected to dimming thermostat and running at 36 degrees in the basking area
Watering schedule: Light watering every couple of days or as needed
Humidity: 40-50% generally, 70% for short periods

Central Bearded Dragon

Substrate: Cypress mulch (~30%), coconut husk (~30%), red desert sand (~20%), charcoal (~15%), plant soils (~5%)
Clean-Up Crew: Superworms
Plants: Same as above
Lighting: UVB Arcadia t5 with reflector
Heat: Philips Flood Light 120W connected to dimming thermostat and running at 40 degrees in the basking area
Watering schedule: Light watering once per week or as needed
Humidity: 20-40% generally, trying to avoid spikes
