Star Wars Battlefront - Galactic Civil War Campaign (Xbox 360)

Now we're in the Episodes 4-6 era. We start by playing as the Empire and their Storm Troopers on Tatooine. This is the only map to feature a third force, the Tuskan Raiders who are just fighting all of us in a 3 way fight. You can take the time to stamp them out but they don't count towards Rebel kills, so there's not much reason to. The Empire has a nice selection of vehicles here so you can go to town with the AT-STs. There's also a sarlac pit that will wrap people up and drag them inside if anyone not in a vehicle gets close. Nice touch.

Then we take the fight to Mos Eisley, where we'll be brawling in the streets. You can go inside the cantina or go to the port the Millennium Falcon is parked at here. The Storm Troopers will gain access to the Dark Troopers on this map. Dark Troopers are OP as hell in this game. They have a shotgun that still packs a punch at long range, a good sidearm, and their jet packs have them take off at high speeds and way up high so they can make quick escapes or ambush out of nowhere. Very effective and very fun.

After that we go to Rhen Var again, but it's a different map. This game has A LOT of maps and I really dig the variety. This map is great for the Dark Trooper as you can just fly up to outposts to claim them or fight in small corridors and riddle enemies with your shotgun.

Next up is a battle at Yavin 4. The rebels have taken up in a big ruin in the center of the map, while vehicles can fight alongside the outskirts of it. As usual, the Dark Trooper can cause some real damage here. That being said I ended up switching to the basic Storm Trooper when a ton of enemies started flooding in from a single corridor. At that moment, rapid fire assault rifle was more appealing than a high damaging shotgun.

And now we must bid adieu to the Dark Trooper as we now play as Rebels for the remainder of the campaign. sigh Rebels are my least favorite force in this game. They're so...generic. Anyways, we're on Yavin 4 again but it's not the same map. It's more open and you can more easily push back the enemies to gain some ground and get some kills. The game's recommendation for using Vanguards and their mines can go to hell, just switch to a Sniper.

After Yavin 4 we go straight to Hoth. Here we get to go up against the massive AT-ATs. I showed how it goes when trying to use an AI partner to wrap up their legs. It goes horribly, whether you are the pilot or the gunner, and I ended up resetting because wasting all that time trying to do it is sooooo not worth it. Just gun down enemy troops for your win, as usual.

After that is Bespin or Cloud City or whatever you call it. This is the only map I actually lost on. You have a number disadvantage and the enemies do REALLY well here so your guys get slaughtered. The only way I managed to win was taking the center myself, because that's where all the enemy forces spawn and can deal the most damage by taking control of nearby turrets and just overwhelming your side. With the center under your control your allies will perform better, but even then it was a close win.

After that is one of the sky docks on Bespin. This map you can fly in the fighters and have aerial battles or go down the tunnels with other ground troops. One fun thing is to fly around the enemy's rear and take their severely undermanned outposts from behind. This stops them from being able to spawn more fighters. Also, there's a way you can ram your fighter inside the tunnels if you approach it from the right angle and really decimate the forces inside but I only attempted that once in this video. You're also guaranteed to die from this, successful in getting in the tunnel or not.

And then finally we have the last battle on Endor. Or technically one of the forest moons of Endor, but me and everyone else that's not some 30-year-old shut-in in his parents basement are just going to call it Endor. We have the native Ewoks helping us for the final battle and holy fucking shit is it annoying. These critters NEVER...EVER...SHUT UP. So get used to hearing their ridiculous cheers. The enemies have access to AT-STs whereas we're lucky if we have a speeder, but fortunately for us those can be ignored. This is because there are log traps set up to insta-kill AT-STs as they travel down the one path the AI is set to take them. Knowing that, all you really have to focus on is pushing up the lines. The game keeps telling you to destroy the generator or something but by the time you've pushed up to it the enemy will have run out of troops anyways.

And that's it for Battlefront 1. There's still Galactic Conquest mode, but that's in Battlefront 2 which is just hands down the superior game, so I won't be playing Conquest Mode here and will be playing it when I get around to Battlefront 2. Eventually.
