This is an old blues song, “Rock Me Mama.” I sat down one morning and started playing this riff and a voice in my head said “ This is Rock Me Mama.” I said, “No it isn’t, Rock Me Mama has a different riff.” And the voice said, “You can do it however you want.” Then I found out, after listening to many versions, there are all kinds of different riffs that this song is played to.
