NSW tightens Vic border restrictions

The New South Wales government is tightening its control over border permits for Victorian residents.

There are now only three reasons people will be granted an exemption to travel to NSW, including for work, education or medical reasons.

Meanwhile, the debate over mask wearing is intensifying in NSW.

NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance said while masks were not compulsory, they had a part to play in stemming the coronavirus outbreak.

“We are encouraging people right across the community, whether it’s on public transport or in a shopping centre, if you can’t physically distance then you should be wearing a mask,” he said.
