A Solo performance on an ancient Sato lute, showing both the plucked and the bowed playing technique.


This beautiful central asian instrument nearly died out, but was revived in the middle of the 20th century and took it's place in the traditional Shashmaqam performance again.


It's closely related to the central asian Tamburs and especially the uyghur Sattar, another bowed long necked lute.
