This track is one of several themes and pieces of underscore that my
good friend, Steve Shapiro, and I worked on re-creating back in 1994.

I had no sheet music at all, just a decent ear for melodies,
counter-melodies and bass lines (and I used to listen to audio tapes of
favorite shows repeatedly). Steve had a high-end keyboard, a sense of
fun and endless patience, as I explained what I was trying to
accomplish with each intricate piece.

Sometimes the trumpets resemble car horns, and strings sound a bit
too electronic, but flutes, xylophones and harpsichords sound perfect, and
the percussion was pretty impressive, too! Incidentally, the final versions were in stereo, but I don't have the proper working player at the moment, so everything is in mono for now.

Technical process, as quoted by Steve: "We used a Korg M1 synth sequenced using Cakewalk MIDI software on an old Windows PC. We then recorded the M1 by plugging it directly to the back of a home stereo cassette deck. No digital audio files were ever made (we didn't have the technology) and the Cakewalk files are probably on some old floppy drives somewhere. Very primitive stuff!"

All in all, we had a great time putting it all together, and as
possible, I will upload other 'masterpieces' to YouTube - assuming this
sort of fan tribute doesn't violate any laws I'm unaware of.
