Witness the Incredible Escape of Two Hornets During the Heat of Desert Storm!

US Marine aviation was always all about supporting Marines on the ground. On 24 February 1991, when the ground offensive for the liberation of Kuwait began, Marine Hornets based in Bahrain flew missions to reduce any possible threat by Iraqi forces. Major Bob 'Boomer' Knutzen of VMFA-314 lead a flight of two F/A-18s and was tasked with destroying Iraqi multiple rocket launchers in south Kuwait. The first battery was cleared with no problems but the second one didn't go as smoothly. Two Hornets will soon be put to a test of toughness and survivability.
