Top Notch Agate, Jasper and Marine Fossil Collecting

Описание к видео Top Notch Agate, Jasper and Marine Fossil Collecting

SPECTACULAR rock haul on this early fall rockhounding adventure! I was out in Eastern Montana along the Yellowstone River, approximately 3 hours East of Billings, MT. I was able to collect several chunks of Pierre formation shale concretions full of marine fossils. I also collected colorful jaspers and pieces of agatized wood. The fortification banding and patterns on several of these rocks make them prized collector specimens, so I won't be feeding them to my 18 inch rock saw, Drogon 🐲.

Looking to learn about Yellowstone River agates? This is a publication from 1972 by a man named Paul Fry. This was the very first literature I read when I was learning about Montana agates. It is called "Meanderings of a Montana Rockhound" and it is priceless:

As far as places I rockhound, greater than 90% of the time I utilize PUBLIC fishing access spots on the Yellowstone river. KatyDidRocks has a great book out on all the places us Montana rockhounds like to go on the Lower Yellowstone River:
