Umbilical Artery Doppler Ultrasound Interpretation / Doppler Ultrasound in Fetal Growth Assessment

Описание к видео Umbilical Artery Doppler Ultrasound Interpretation / Doppler Ultrasound in Fetal Growth Assessment

Umbilical arterial (UA) Doppler assessment is a specific ultrasound that is used in surveillance of fetal well-being in the third trimester of pregnancy. Abnormal umbilical artery Doppler is a marker of placental insufficiency and consequent intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) or suspected pre-eclampsia. The blood flow through Umbilical Artery gives a typical low resistance flow pattern demonstrating a continuous forward flow during Systolic wave as well as Diastolic wave (though at a reduced rate) i.e. throughout Cardiac Cycle. The different waves on the Umbilical Artery Doppler include Normal, Reduced diastolic flow and the reversed Diastolic flows. Moreover, there are certain important parameters on ultrasound like Resistance Index and Pulsatility Indices etc.
In pathological condition like IUGR, placental vasculature either never fully developed its arteriolar branching or undergoes atherosclerotic changes reflects increased placental resistance. Monitoring with Umbilical Artery Doppler improves placental outcome.

This Channel is providing knowledge in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Obstetrics is related to medical and surgical care before, during, and after a woman gives birth. Obstetrics focuses on caring for and maintaining a woman’s overall health during maternity. This includes pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Gynaecology on the other hand focuses on women’s bodies and their reproductive health. It includes the diagnosis, treatment, and care of women’s reproductive system. This includes vagina, uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. Gynaecology also includes screening for and treating issues associated with women’s breasts. Gynaecology is the overarching field of women’s health from puberty through adulthood. It represents most of the reproductive care you’ll receive during your lifetime. If you become pregnant, you’ll need to go to an obstetrician.
