Dreamwalker - For Those Who Tread Nightmares

"They were here. They were always here!"

From beneath the pyramids, Thomas found a rift in space, a pocket dimension of grey nothing, folded under reality. In it was a woman, waiting, the journalist whose articles he now read a hundred times over, the one that escaped. If there was a way out of this, she had to have an answer.

He though he could finally rest... until she told her the truth, a horrifying revelation of those that hid beyond the verge of consciousness, god-forms stretched from beyond the sun, avatars of beings that devoured the dreams of those they lured to their lairs. That man was not of this world, not of any, an avatar to those that, since the beginning of time, fed upon life, harvesting the minds, and taking what remained to the beyond for their amusement.

The signals were not just noise. They were a message. A cry for help. A warning. If you knew of them, they knew of you. There was no escape. No place to hide but there, beneath the pyramids, in a fallacy of a world small enough to suffocate in.

Thomas collapsed, tired and defeated. She tried to comfort him but it was no use. His old life would never return. The nightmares would slow but never stop. The end of the road was reached. It was dead.
