Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba often described Lord Rama not merely as a historical figure or mythological hero, but as the very embodiment of Dharma (righteousness). He said that Rama's life is His message, and through every action — whether as a son, brother, husband, or king — Rama upheld the highest ideals of truth, duty, compassion, and self-sacrifice.
"Rama is Dharma personified. He never deviated from Dharma, even in the most trying circumstances. His life is an example for all to follow. Where Rama is, there Dharma is." — Sathya Sai Baba
Ram Navami, the sacred day celebrating the birth of Lord Rama, was described by Baba as more than a celebration of a divine advent — it is an invitation for each of us to awaken the Rama Tattwa (Rama principle) within. Baba emphasized that Rama was born to awaken humanity to its divine essence, and to show that the path of righteousness may be difficult, but it always leads to peace and victory.
Baba also explained that the name “Rama” is itself a mantra full of sweetness and power — "Ra" from Narayan and "Ma" from Namah Shivaya — symbolizing both Vishnu and Shiva, the sustaining and dissolving aspects of divinity.
“The name Rama is not just a name. It is packed with the power of the Divine. When you chant 'Rama', you are invoking both Vishnu and Shiva.” — Sathya Sai Baba
Ram Rajya, the rule of Rama, is the model of a perfect society — a society based on truth, justice, compassion, and selflessness. Baba often said that by following Rama’s ideals in our own homes, workplaces, and communities, we can recreate Ram Rajya in our own lives.
