Title: Versatile New Stir Bar Sorptive Extraction Techniques for Flavor, Fragrance, and Odor Analysis

Abstract: The ability to use PDMS stir bars in the headspace (HSSE) and in combination with ethylene glycol-modified Silicone-coated (EG-Sil) stir bars (multi-SBSE) has increased the versatility of SBSE in recent years. Application examples for a variety of sample matrices will be presented, including beer, sweaty T-shirts for body odor chemicals, casein powder, and pretzels. Newer SBSE techniques offer low detection limits, reproducible results, linear calibration curves, and uniform enrichment of a wide range of flavor and odor compounds in many types of samples.
