Snowboard and ski instructor Loic showed us his day in the season as a ski instructor with Prosneige ski and snowboard school in Val d’Isere, France.

Ski lessons, ski hire & maintenance, boot fitting, and sale of ski equipment. Prosneige is a team of 100 ski instructors, 40 ski technicians and 15 office staff and we operate in 7 resorts. Come and meet our teams in Val Thorens, Les Ménuires, Méribel and Val d’Isère and l’Alpe d’huez for ski lessons and ski hire. Tignes and Courchevel Prosneige teams for ski lessons.
Our multilingual instructors receive regular teaching and group management training. All Prosneige schools offer private ski lessons and all group lessons. Kids ski lessons are limited to 6 children.

The famous apres ski point in Val d’Isere is Cocorico where they organize themed parties with DJs and entertainers. It is located in the town and accessible without skis.

Living costs
In this video, Loic went grocery shopping at the Sherpa in the centre of Val d’Isere. The basic shopping cart continues throughout the “Life of a ski instructor” series and it consists of 1 red pepper, 1 zucchini, 500g of chicken breast, 6 eggs, 500g tomato sauce, 500g rice, 300g can of corn, and 1 baguette (french bread). The total price was 19,89€.
Food, fuel and other goods are cheaper in the closest bigger town (Bourg-Saint-Maurice).

Accommodation
Instructors are expected to find accommodation for the season and the ski school is happy to provide all the support an instructor needs. You can expect to pay from six to ten thousand euros per season for the rent - depending if it’s a shared accommodation or a private one and on the location. Most of the instructors find their winter home in Val d’Isere and neighbouring villages (Tignes Les Boisses, Les Brevieres) and use their cars or buses to get around the valley.

Transportation
Having a car is NOT a must in Val d’Isere / Tignes area. It depends on where you live. Renting a car paring is an option in Val d’Isere so that you can have the comfort of driving your car and no worries about parking in town.
