The new 2024 BMW i5 M60 represents a significant step in BMW's shift toward electrification, bridging the gap between the celebrated i4 and the luxurious i7. Positioned as a mid-size luxury electric car, the i5 M60 combines driving pleasure with sophisticated comforts, featuring two powerful electric powertrain options. With the base eDrive40 model, boasting a single electric motor powering the rear wheels, drivers can experience 335 horsepower. The real showstopper, however, is the M60 xDrive model, featuring a dual-motor setup generating an impressive 601 horsepower, ensuring a potent all-wheel-drive performance. The i5 M60 delivers an exhilarating driving experience, emphasizing agile handling, powerful acceleration, and a refined ride. Equipped with an 84.3-kWh battery pack, the eDrive40 model targets an estimated range of 475 km, while the M60, with its higher power output, offers an estimated 516 km range. Both models support DC fast-charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes, enhancing practicality and usability. The cabin of the i5 is spacious, luxurious, and shares the opulence of the gasoline-powered 5-series, maintaining comfort and upscale materials. Despite the battery's presence, the cabin remains roomy, though trunk space is slightly compromised compared to the gasoline model. BMW introduces a new faux-leather upholstery named Veganza, along with a set of glass interior controls, adding a touch of sophistication to the cabin. Technologically, the i5 boasts a prominent curved panel housing a 12.3-inch digital gauge display and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. BMW's iDrive 8.5 interface is user-friendly and updatable via over-the-air updates.
