Rescue operations underway as death toll from landslides in India's Kerala rises | The World

Several massive landslides triggered by heavy rain in southern India's Kerala state have killed more than 70 people. Efforts to rescue people have been hampered due to unstable terrain and a main bridge collapsing in the region. The landslides are the worst disaster there since 2018 when heavy floods killed almost 400 people. ABC’s India bureau chief Meghna Bali speaks to The World’s Beverley O’Connor and says that the “nightmare” may not be over anytime soon because weather bureau has forecasted “extremely heavy rainfall” tomorrow which may impact rescue efforts.
