This is where you fill a dish full of water and put the house plant pot inside that dish to absorb the water from the bottom up. This ensures that the entire pot is absorbing water and not certain areas only. Spider plants can sometimes not receive the necessary water to the root systems. Sometimes when people water using a watering can a lot of the water only goes to the outside of the pot not to the roots.
