Aaaannnnd, just like that, I’m all caught up! Here’s this week’s #2022advancedplayerschallenge tune, the most excellent Jesse Polka, or more accurately, Jesusita en Chihuahua. This tune has its origins in early 20th century Mexico and made its way into Texas through Cliff Bruner’s 1938 recording. It did originally have a pizzicato section and I would like to directly apologize to my friend Bryan Jimmerson for leaving it out. It’s his favorite part. I suck at pizzicato, or at least I think I still do, and I’m too tired to get better at it for this recording.

Where do you stand on polkas? I just read the Fiddler Magazine interview with @officialkatrinanicolayeff and she talks about how much she loves polkas and she’s right about this. Polkas rule. Learn a polka this week. You won’t be sorry.
