The Mind Trick for Consistent Solos: Shaping Motifs across Progressions. Jazz Piano Tutorial.

Описание к видео The Mind Trick for Consistent Solos: Shaping Motifs across Progressions. Jazz Piano Tutorial.

In this jazz piano tutorial: The Mind Trick for Consistent Solos: Shaping Motifs across Progressions, we discuss a simple technique for adding consistency to your solos in jazz standards. By using a smart shortcut based on the circle of fifths, we show how to play the same motive over different chords in the progression. We explain that by thinking of certain structures that work well over certain chords, you can easily transpose and modalize your motives to fit the progression. We demonstrate how to play different shapes using add 9 chords over the minor 7 flat 5 chords, and major add 9 chords over the dominant 7 flat 9 chords. We also show how to add rhythmic variation, omit notes, and use two motives to create a consistent and cohesive solo. We offer a PDF download for exclusive access members that covers today's topic in more detail.
