Coal Miners Chocolate Cake

1 pkg. devils food cake mix
1 16 oz. cn. cherry pie filling
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. Evaporated milk
3/4 c. chopped pecans
1 t. vanilla

Mix 4 ingredients for cake. Pour into a greased 9 by 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into middle of cake. Remove cake from oven. In a saucepan, combine sugar, chocolate chips, butter and Evaporated milk. Bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring frequently. Stir in pecans Pour hot mixture over top of warm cake. Cool and then chill before serving. I love mine warm with icecream but it can be served cold or warm
This cake freezes well.
