National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad in collaboration with KONBAC presents "Bamboo: The Sustainable Future of India".

A webinar where experts from government, academia, professional-commercial practices, and community development come together to contemplate the role of bamboo as a crucial resource for accelerating economic growth in the agro-industrial sector in India.

The panel brings in first-hand perspectives on policy making, bamboo-based product development, eco-architecture, farming, business, craftsmanship, and more.

India is the second-largest producer of bamboo in the world. One of the most versatile material that is applicable from Art to Architecture, Craft to Carbon, Cradle to Coffin, Fashion to Furniture and Food to Fuel, bamboo’s potential has been heavily underutilized. We can create self-sustainable systems around farming, harvesting, and value addition at local level to distribute benefits of revenue generation in the community. The session is an attempt to throw light on current and probable ripples of macro and micro-level interventions on craftsmanship, local nuances of making as well as IPR identification, supply-value chain, creation-sustenance of the marketplace and more to offer an insight into the future.

This webinar is a chance for makers, material enthusiasts, designers, educators, businessmen, craftsmen, farmers, and students to engage in a stirring discussion over understanding possibilities in bamboo sector and plan their way ahead.
