Spacehawk - The Treachery of Smebar

Based on Basil Wolverton's 8th Spacehawk story, this sees the intrepid space hero stop a coup and plan of conquest on the Planet Neptune. Basil Wolverton had been trying to build a career as a professional illustrative & comics artist through out the 30's in both humerous and serious strips. His eccentric style and downright weird characters worked best in comedy & the bizarre world of science fiction and the early 40's Spacehawk was one of his first successes. His editors were however opposed to his flights of fancy, and the advent of WW2 saw his hero change from fighting interplanetary menaces to more local villians on an Earth little advanced from the 40's USA, with streamlined trains replacing roaring rocketships.
