ANCONA Italy | Marella Explorer 2 | Adriatic Delights | Solo Cruise

Day 5 of my week long solo Adriatic Cruise and its our second port of call in Italy, and another new one for me, the port of Ancona, on board the Marella Cruises cruise ship Marella Explorer 2

Ancona has a lot of Roman History including the 1,900 year old Arch of Trajan.

For the best views of the city head up to the Duomo. I found a lift which made that a bit easier. As well as views of the port this overlooks the Fincantieri Shipyard here, where they're currently building the new Viking Cruise ships Viking Vela and Viking Vesta.

After a wander through narrow streets into the town I headed back to the ship.

For my afternoon on board I had a Bridge Tour, which was excellent.

Then the evening entertainment included dinner with the solo travellers in the included Tapas restaurant, a show in the theatre, and the Tiki deck party, before a later night in the disco.

Ancona will be memorable for me as it was also my 273rd night at sea, that's 9 months of my life on cruise ships!!
