After getting your feet wet with voicings (which is an important feature to consider when comparing synths) as we did in the last video it’s time for another presentation. In the lesson we’ll break down the fundamental components of all subtractive synthesizers. These components (that you’ll use to compare synthesizers) are oscillators, filters, modulators, the sound engine, FX, and user interface/user experience. Over the next several videos we’ll look at each these areas in much greater detail and use a number of synthesizers to make comparisons on not only features but also the resulting sound.
