NLEXLakbayNorte Zambales Day 1. SM Olongapo, Magsaysay Museum, Lubong Nangolian Falls, Villa Elisa

NLEX Corporation, through NLEX Lakbay Norte, brought us on a three-day tour of the province of Zambales.
This historic province first explored in 1572 by the Spanish led by Juan de Salcedo offers many natural, cultural and heritage attractions. On board a special NLEX LakbayNorte Victory Liner Bus, we travelled north via the world-class North Luzon Expressway and Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway to explore the hidden gems of Zambales.
For Day One, we visited SM City Olongapo Central to get a taste of Olongapo's delectable food offerings like Japanese rolls, Tinapang Liempo, Pad Thai and local kakanins at their Foodie Expo. We also got to see their Prism Portal and play like kids at iSports, a playground for kids at heart. In SM City Olongapo Downtown, we were treated to the artisanal coffee drinks at Kuan Cafe.
Our next destination was the Museo ni Ramon Magsaysay in Castillejos where we got to learn about the life and legacy of the 7th President of the Philippines.
We drove next to San Felipe, where we met its mayor before proceeding to the beautiful Lubong Nangoloan Falls. To get there we have to ride a carabao drawn kariton, trek and walk through knee-deep water before reaching the falls.
Our final stop was the luxurious villas of Villa Eliza Resort in Botolan where we would spend the night. We were also treated to a dinner of Filipino favorites like kare kare, sisig, sinigang and embotido at their Servando Restaurant.
