Chandrashekhara Ashtakam is a powerful hymn chanted by Sage Markandeya to save his life from Lord Yama (the God of death), he built the Shivling and worshiped daily to please Lord Shiva and Shiva granted a boon that he is immortal ( Cheeranjeevi), Once a time Yama taught that the time of Markandeya is over and he wants to take life of him at just 16 years of age and pushed his noose towards the Markandeya and markandeya holds shivling tightly the noose holds the shivling also included Markandeya, from this Lord Shiva rises from the Shivling furiously and kicks Yama, so that Yama fells on ground and left his life, after sometime Shiv made hime alive, the lord of Yama then realises and asks Shiva to forgive and says he never goes to the devotees of lord Shiva, this is how Markandeya saves his life and becomes devotee of Lord Shiva, Markandeya says when Shiva is there whom are you to take my life with Lord of death (Yama) ...... for more updates, please subscribe my channel, thank you for watching!
